You are not required to use the services of a claims management company to pursue your claim. It is possible for you to present your claim yourself for free, either directly to the firm you wish to complain about, or to the relevant statutory ombudsman or compensation scheme.
Car finance
You do not need to use a claims management company to make your complaint to your finance provider. You must first complain to your finance provider. If your complaint is not successful, you can refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service yourself for free.
Financial & investment complaints
For complaints about financial firms (including investment advice), complain to the firm first. If unresolved, refer to the Financial Ombudsman Service for free.
Housing disrepair
Report issues to your landlord or local council. Registered social housing tenants may refer to the Housing Ombudsman Service.
Motor finance update: The Financial Conduct Authority is reviewing motor finance commission complaints. There is currently a pause on many of these complaints and a consumer redress scheme may be introduced. www.fca.org.uk/consumers/car-finance-complaints
